Gure sheepdog trial is much more than a sheepdog competition. It is a way of doing, feeling and interacting with the herding world.
Born locally but with international projection, we organise a trial where competitive rigour and a sharing spirit are brought together.
In this event, the local traditions have an important role. Local food, music and art are shown to all the participants and public in order to offer a 360º experience.
A trial is a sheepdog competition. It consists of a series of tests where the shepherd and their dogs compete to see which team has a better performance.
Trials are a meeting point where shepherds can share experiences, training techniques and are able to assess the qualities of each dog.
Our trial follows the ISDS (International Sheepdog Society) guidance. Despite being a festive event, the competitive nature is always present. Well renowned judges are in charge of keeping high standards to ensure the competition’s prestige.
To compete in the Gure is quite an experience!
From June 9th till June 11th 2023 the edition of Gure Sheepdog Trial will be held!
In the event, there will be the international sheepdog trial and some social events. All of this happening in one of the most beatiful areas of Catalan Pirinees: La Vall de Boí.
La Vall de Boí is widely known for its animal agriculture, with a strong presence of cattle and xisqueta sheep.
This extraordinary valley is also renowned for its astonishing landscape and its cultural heritage recognised by the UNESCO. Romanesque architecture, Falles, Starlight destination and Aigüestortes National Park are some of the distinctive aspects of this region.
Join us for this very special edition of Gure SDT!
We want our competitors and visitors to feel as comfortable as possible. As such, amenities are available including bar service, toilets and a demonstration area where rural activities will be displayed.
In Gure, we invite you to eat, listen and most importantly, feel!
Without them the trial would not be possible. Our priority is the health and welfare of the sheep.
Furthermore, this event also aims to start conversations about native breeds and their key impact in local communities.
We are moved by respect towards one of the most ancient professions: sheep herding.
Respect for our local shepherds, for our native livestock and its welfare. Respect for a life’s philosophy that shapes our landscapes from the sea to the highest mountains, becoming a key part of preserving the ecosystem.
We generate synergies in the local area!
We like this way of naming all the people, businesses and institutions that make this competition a reality. Partners that understand and, more importantly, share our philosophy and values.

Nothing makes us more excited than the Fair Play – Robert Subirana trophy.
